In 1997, Harry van Bommel founded Canada 150: Our Canada, Our Stories -- Notre Canada, Now Histoires. The project was designed to bring together major organizations from across Canada to help their clients or members record their personal or family histories as our gift to Canada on its 150th birthday. Any books, films, multi-media productions and/or websites were to be donated to Library and Archives Canada to be saved in perpetuity. In this way, future generations would always have access to the history of their families and communities.
